-Nathan is an overall quite non-imposing figure, unless in a bad mood, where he won't bother to keep his eyes colored. He generally is never seen as a threat until it is too late. His hair never has anything special to it. It's about six inches at it's longest point, more than often seen in a free flowing manner. Sometimes it's wild, sometimes it isn't. 'Styled' never really was his thing. By way of clothing, nothing special either, just 'practical.' Longs sleeves, jeans, a jacket sometimes, are most common. He's not the best looking male around, nor is anywhere near the worst. By far, he stands out as little as possible, and wants to keep it that way. But he can get deceptively cute.-
Character Personality ´ The person beyond the looks
Likes
blood (even before his rebirth, he's had a strange fixation for it); art; cheesy horror movies; fog; busses (the blood)
Dislikes
shapeshifter/werewolves; snow; good horror movies; broccoli (a human thing); taxis
Hobbies
photography; just sitting in crowded places; perfecting his self control
Goals/ wishes:
to control his thirst; be known in someway for his photos;
Worst fears:
werewolves (ya, it seems like an odd one for a vampire, but it's a deep seeded one from before his vampiric days that he never shook off); turning someone; being discovered (as a vamp) by mass amounts of people
Strengths
silence; easy conversation; art; lying
Weaknesses
blood (but that's something he's planning to overcome soon); werewolves (he doesn't understand that either); strong scents (some people just smell better than others)
Special Talent
Camoflauge? To a degree. Nathaniel can change the color of his eyes, making it easier for him to be in a group of humans. He'd always been easily able to fit in. Only in certain situations, like him being angry or very thirtsy, will his eyes stay red (and, in case of thirst, slowly go black).
-First and foremost, he comes off as a very sweet and simple guy. And, in general, that may not be very far from the truth. Nate mostly is not a vicious killer (nor does he often act on impulse), and quite often is calm about everything. If he can control himself properly, a human will usually find nothing wrong with him other than personal taste. No one could ever guess that he can easily kill them at the drop of a pin... unless they're paranoid.
Of course, it was said 'mostly,' and 'ingeneral.' That means there are always exceptions. Very thirsty or just plainly in a bad mood, he's not pleasant to hang around, being someone who growls a lot. And then, in the right (or wrong) mood, sometimes his victims are put through hell. That is rare, because he still has an unusually large conscience. He always picks his food very carefully.
Everything about him depends on the 'mood,' the right or wrong timing with this fellow. One other big thing is that he loves a good challenge. Currently, that's come in the form for self-control. For the last fifty years or so, he's basically (and over-simply put) been tempting and depriving himself. He's not weaning himself off human blood - he's eaten an animal once, doesn't like it - but, instead, he's just wants to be able to stand in a thickly crowded room at least semi-comfortably.–
Character History ´ Those tales you cannot find on books
Family
Timothy Gardiner, father. Alison Rose Gardiner, mother. Jacob Gardiner, brother. James Gardiner, brother.
Emelie Mae Hellion; dead
-Born Jonathan Nathaniel Booth Gardiner, he was born in a town called Poway in later 19th century California. Poway, at this time, was nothing more than a short main street and a few farms, officially born around the same time he was. His mother and father were an exceptionally superstitious two, believing in all kinds of omens from full moons to black dogs and black cats, and thus he and his brothers inherently were as well.
Into his teen years, he started loosing these fears, becoming a more independent fellow, particularly taking walks and trips at night, which was greatly frowned upon by his mother and father. He can't quite remember if that was parental concern or linked to another superstition, however. Tales of werewolves and vampires did run rampant at this time and place. He shrugged off the vampire stories, but slightly believed the werewolf ones. Johnny-boy found them slightly more believable.
Going through town early one night, he met and befriended a young woman named Emily. She, for being what she was, was a surprisingly non-imposing and calm person, exactly like the vampire he is today. Whenever they met, it was always after the sun went down, for the weather in Poway was often sunny. It wasn't until years later that he found out what she really was. And that was an evening of uncharacteristic differences.
Emily was a carnivorous vampire, but, having let herself grow fond of him, said she told herself he would never be a source of blood for her. The night's difference for her: She was thristy. Jonathan was usually quite well on his feet, able to walk up and down a hill backwards. But he was tripping over himself all night. Talk about being in a bad position at a bad time.
Making this story short, they spent some time at the nearby river in the thick of those trees and hills. Finally, a root of a tree caught his foot, sending him down onto a rather unfriendly and out of place set of rocks. Picking himself up, they (Emily of course sooner) discovered those mean ol' rocks left a couple of hearty gashes on his arm. At that point, it was too much to the female vampire. Taken over by her thirst, she attacked him.
Who knows what possessed her to stop, but she did. And then Emily disappeared.
Over the next couple of weeks, there was a set of strange and ugly deaths, none of them discreet and all of them no doubt the doing of John. He struggled to control himself and became very reclusive, staying completely away from his own family. Then Emily reappeared, and invited him to Oregon and Washington.
Back and forth between the two states they roamed. He picked up her hunting habits, becoming less impulsive, but at this point only slightly. He discovered his ability in a hotel room, months after his transformation. He was staring in a mirror, remembering the original color of his eyes, blue, and preferred that more than the crimson, wishing he could fix that. A few moments later, they were blue once again. A quick thinker, he spent an hour playing with that.
In the late Thirties, Emily changed her name to Emelie, and he decided to change his as well, becoming Nathaniel Booth, also deciding to swap out Gardiner for her name, Hellion (it was cooler). It wasn't long after that that some "modern" hunters discovered them, seeking to destroy the two, somehow succeeding with Emelie in '41. One of those hunters also lost their life. That was one of those not-so-kind-to-food moments.
Ever since, Nathaniel has been pretty much solo. In the Fifties, he grew tired to the whole hiding act he'd been going through for the past forty years, so his personal "challenge" was born. –
Role-play Sample ´ It’s time to prove your value
(i don't know why i wanted to use a different sample... xD) - Dominic had been milling around the deck all day. He really had nothing to be doing for the first time in a long time. The cook had a friend or something over, but but he'd been too busy doing his own stuff, moving crates back and forth and back again, to catch a glimpse of the guest. Had it been three times or four that he'd moved the crates and barrles to the opposite side now? It was no form of OCD that drove him to keep moving these things around, it was boredom. Well, in the beginning it was, then he spaced out and kept doing it.
One of the musicians had been watching him for a while, Leala something. He thinks she actually started playing music to his doings, writing - or playing rather - on the spot, like a theme or something. Then she went below deck and he was the only one out there. He had just set a crate down when he backed into someone else. "Oh, I am so sorry!" He blurted, whipping around at the same time she spoke.
He glanced at what had fallen on the deck, a bag. And out of it came a few bras and a sweatshirt. She quickly snatched up a lacey piece, he got the sweatshirt, not sure if he should get the remaining bras as well. Instead, he just looked up at her, suddenly distracted by one of her comments. "Didn't see me?" He looked at himself, almost laughing through his brogue. "I must be shrinking!"
He looked back at her with a smirk, seeing the slightly red, big-eyed beauty under the hat infront of him. "Uh..." Nic stood. "Uhm. I didn't- I didn't mean to bump into you." He still felt he did the bumping, tripping through the apology.-
