Monday, First day of school
Peace and solitude… that was everything she wanted to, that was her every single desire and hope when, on that rainy day, Evelyn walked in the Forks High School, whishing simply that she would be completely unnoticed and disguised on the middle of the crown. That as what had so innocently and naively, perhaps, thought that could happen if she was lucky, of course the adjective lucky wasn’t one the type of one to be used to describe her. Her hopes and dreams were quickly scattered and ruined almost on the spot as sudden as she had spent her first minutes on the school small campus. All that the wanted was to get unnoticed and, of course, that was the only thing she couldn’t ever ask for. Not when her figure would so easily capture people’s attention, no matter how silent she always was and would run away from the people’s eyesight, but her ‘looks’ seemed to somehow always attract and be a magnet for the other students gazes… And it was undeniably uncomfortable.
Still, she knew it could be far away worse than it already was. On that day she wasn’t the only one new girl around and, gladly, all the attentions weren’t just focused on her though she was sad for the other unfortunate girl. Bella Swan, the nice and friendly girl she had just befriended the day after on the small city of Port Angeles, she definitely was getting it really worse than Eve was. Poor girl, she had the attention of a whole city upon her! Not only the stares of the other students but also from their parents, grandparents… and, well, practically everybody and just because, apparently, she was the daughter of the chief of the police station. That could not be a problem, though, if Bella was the kind of girl that enjoyed the spotlight… Though, Eve believed Bella loved it she did, which meant, hell no! Poor Bella, I hope she had made it through the morning. Evelyn though sadly as she stared outside the class room of her Spanish classroom and tried to ignore the unfocused stare of her desk mate but all that she was able to do was sight hopelessly after many failed tries.
All the morning it had been this way on her classes. Of course, if she had had the luck of seating beside one girl she knew eventually they would did their best to ignore Eve, probably threatened by her stupid good looks, but not only on that she could had some peace. She had to seat near boys all the morning and, having some of them trying to chat her up or some considering to droll over her… That simply wasn’t her idea of good. No, all that she wanted was to talk as less as possible and have them leaving her quiet and that was good. Her definition of good simply didn’t to fit on the small town of Forks. Evelyn heard the small noise of her partner clearing his throat and resisted the urge of sighting at his strategy to call her attention, but still she kept staring outside hoping he would just give up anything he wanted to say… And she really should stop having such hope high, honestly.
“So…Er…Are you going to eat at the cafeteria at lunch?” She heard his whispered voice and Eve closed her eyes briefly. Here it was her opportunity to simply ignore him or something, but unfortunately she couldn’t simply e that mean. So, she turned her head and stared at him with her face calmly.
“Well, yes...” Evelyn started cautiously smiling politely at the boy. It wasn’t anything wrong with him, honestly, but it was pretty much for his safety. “…with a friend.” She added lastly, remembering gladly her previous plans with Bella. At least, she wouldn’t have to lie on this part…
“Oh… right.” That was his simply reply. Even thought he hadn’t finished anything, she still had been able to see the faint faded smile on the boy’s lips as she answered him.
Gladly, before he could ask her anything more or anything, the bell rang and quickly Evelyn grabbed her things and left the classroom quietly, in the direction of she believed to be the cafeteria. Well, that was the direction her map pointed and, taking in consideration many other students were heading the same direction, at least she was pleaded to know she hadn’t lost herself in her way to the lunch and, in a few minutes, she found herself on the strangely crowded place and felt her body tense slightly as some curious looks turned toward her. Not now, please… At least, give me a little of peace now! She pleaded silently while she kept walking nervously toward the room and look around for one particular face: Bella. Where was she? Could she have regretted yesterday’s plans? No, that didn’t seem like her…
“Five minutes and then I run away.” She told herself, but suddenly her heart sink as she heard the sound of footsteps getting closer to her and the soft blush touch her checks. Please, let he or she not had heard this. She pleaded again as she turned around to find the source of her sudden dilemma.

Bella was dying. Forks was literally her own personal hell. She had no idea what she had done to deserve any of this, but it must have been something really, really bad. All she had wanted was to be ignored, to be invisible. That was something so easily accomplished in Phoenix, but apparently not in Forks, apparently not for her. Why? What have I done to deserve this kind of cruel punishment? She thought desperately to herself.
Her dream of going unnoticed had burst into flames the second she had stepped out of her truck. All of the people in the immediate surrounding areas had turned to stare at her, and conversation stopped. Just brilliant. Of course, being Bella, she had blushed and awkwardly shuffled her way into school, trying in vain to ignore the awful stares of her classmates. She just hoped that it would be easier for Evelyn.
All day, Bella had tried to go ignored, but it seemed to be impossible. People kept coming up to her to talk, and others just openly stared at her, not even bothering to hide it. It meant that she was being clumsier than usual, and Bella had already lost count of how many times she had nearly tripped, only to be saved by one of her many "new friends". These friends turned out to be guys who she shared at least one class with, and for some unknown reason insisted on following her around.
There had, however, been one positive moment to her day. Before one of her lessons, she had been lost, and met an angel. She knew he couldn't really have been an angel, but he was glorious enough to have been one. He had helped her find her way to class, but Bella would have been an idiot to hope for something to happen between them. He probably didn't remember her face. And the way she had stared, and been unable to form a single, coherent, sentence around him had probably lead to him questioning her mental competence.
Lunch time could not come fast enough for Bella. She would see Evelyn, the only person she actually knew, unless her friend had cancelled. A sudden shiver of fear ran through her, What if she isn't in the cafeteria? Maybe she forgot, or was never even planning to have lunch with me? Bella agonized the whole way to the cafeteria. She tried to concentrate more on her feet and not falling over in front of everyone, and eventually she arrived.
Breathing a soft sigh of relief, Bella looked up to see a familiar-looking person, and smiled. "Evelyn! I'm so glad you're here, I'm dying." She told her friend with a slight grimace. They walked to the lunch line to get food, and Bella avoided the looks of her "admirers" who hadn't left her alone for a full 5 minutes yet. She looked up at Evelyn, "How's your morning been?" She asked tentatively, hoping it had been at least fractionally better than Bellas.

For a place of such small size and definitely not too populated, it was amazing how the Forks High school cafeteria could become so crowded and populated during the lunch time. No matter how many time her grandmother had told her the school didn’t have as many students as the ones she had attended, it was still a shock to see such a big amount of people reunited and… well, staring at her. Okay, perhaps she was exaggerating a little, just a big amount of them were staring, but it still did feel like that and, if it wasn’t for the nice and very familiar voice she heard behind her just a few couple of seconds later, Eve was sure she would run away on the spot. Such a brave person she was…
Immediately Evelyn turned around relieved and smiled more happily to see the face of her friend, but her smile faded slightly when she understood the meaning of the grimace on Bella’s features. How could she complain about her morning when, more than probably, Bella’s had been worse than hers? Evelyn followed Bella silently to the lunch line and pondered briefly Bella’s words. It wasn’t even needed to look at her face to understand the ‘pain’ and uncomfortable way she was holding herself on the middle of the all attention that she wasn’t definitely used at. Even on that Evelyn was luckier than Bella. She had already a couple of experience on that subject, such for her dismay, even though she would have to admit it never had happened like it was now, on Forks. It’s just because this is the first day… She added, trying to persuade herself with her own words. Though, the effect was precisely the opposite.
“Horrible. I don’t like to call anyone attention and… that simply didn’t go as planned for me. “Evelyn admitted breaking the short silence between them and stared thoughtfully Bella’s face. “I believe, though, that I haven’t got as much as you did… How was your morning? “Evelyn asked back, softly and trying to hide her concerned frown from Bella and moved slowly as the food line also moved and tried to think on anything else to say, anything that could help both erase the terrible memory of their first day of classes. “Anyway, I’m glad at least this is lunch and I can spend some quality time with you. You can’t imagine how our lunch today saved me countless times.” Eve added smiling softly again, remembering the boy of her Spanish class.
She was her personal guardian angel, even though if in return she had got herself as wet as a cat that had fallen on a lake and got her grandmother complaining about her lateness on the previous day. Even though, also, if she had been wondering the rest of the day if Bella had make out the rest of the day alive, without ending on the hospital or something close. Thankfully no. It was a relief, indeed, but she couldn’t avoid but wonder in amusement if her friend had tripped anymore time during the last time they had been together. That was a question that would remain unanswered, though. She couldn’t ask her afraid Bella could take it the wrong way.

Bella listened to Evelyn's description of her morning with sympathy. It seemed like neither of them had had the ideal day so far, and it didn't feel much like it would change. She was pretty sure it was just because they were new, so they were like some novelty, but she hated it. Not disliked, hated. Normally, Bella wasn't a violent or aggressive person, and she was fairly neutral about most things, but when it came to being the center of attention, her insides curled up in fear and she got nervous and stressed and worried.
As her friend asked about her morning, Bella surpressed a groan. Her morning couldn't have been worse. Except for one thing, but that was completely different. All morning she had been plagued with questions and opinions, and followed around and watched. She was about to go insane, or die from embarassement, whichever came first. Looking over at Eve with a sad smile, she shrugged half-heartedly. What to say? She decided to tell her friend half the truth, there was really no point in complaining or making her friend worry.
"Urm, my morning was.. horrible. Everyone keeps looking at me, and talking to me. All I really want to do is disappear.. And then.." She carried on, before stopping abruptly. She didn't know whether or not to tell Evelyn about the encounter she had had this morning. Bells decided eventually not to, yet anyway. She turned swiftly, grabbing a water bottle to plunk on her tray as they moved along in the queue. "I just hope I don't draw any attention to myself this afternoon, I don't think I could take much more." She said softly.
No need to mention that there was one person she had met whose attention she wouldn't mind getting, but that also happened to be the one person who probably wouldn't even realize she existed by tomorrow. Just my luck.. I can never win, she thought bitterly, before pushing the negative thoughts out of her mind. It was time to be positive. She was away from all the other kids, with her friend, and already half way through the day. And she hadn't fallen yet, which was some kind of crazy miracle.
Laughing at Evelyn's words, Bella nodded. "I'm so glad too. I can't imagine what I'd have done if I didn't know you. This is probably all that got me through the morning. And it's saved me from eating with some of the other people in my classes.." She muttered the last part, rolling her brown eyes in exasperation. They were annoying, and she had no clue why they wouldn't leave her alone. In her opinion, she really wasn't that interesting. But they were so insistent. "Anything good happen to you yet?" She asked tentatively, looking back over at Evelyn.

Edward knew he shouldn’t do it, but he was too curious not to. So he peeked into the new girl Evelyn’s mind. All he got was that she was getting attention, and she didn’t like it. It also told him that she’d gotten this much attention before… This made him wonder. He not only got that information though, he got information about Bella. The fact that she moved from Phoenix was weird, wasn’t it always sunny there? There was a drastic difference between Phoenix and Forks, so why did she come here? Edward already knew that Charlie Swan, the police chef, was her father. Everyone knew that before she even came to Forks. He’d go only a little bit further; it would be that bad would it? So he went a little bit deeper into her thoughts. He smiled at the thought of Bella being clumsy. Yes, clumsy is a perfect word for her. Edward’s seen her stumble and bump into stuff several times today.
Edward further walked down the hall. He wasn’t even to lunch yet. The Cullens went sort of in shifts, as to not be in a big group and distract people. Jasper and Alice were there first, then Emmett and Rosalie, and then him. He always had to be last. He argued against it, but some how Alice persuaded him to be last. He could hardly remember the conversation now, which was weird. What he did remember though was that Jasper was beside him. That had to be part of the reason.
He walked into the lunchroom, and who was the first person he saw? Evelyn. Yes and right beside her was Bella. He noticed how they talked like long time friends. Obviously they’ve met before this. "Urm, my morning was.. horrible. Everyone keeps looking at me, and talking to me. All I really want to do is disappear.. And then.." Bella paused as if to say something wasn’t as horrible as the rest. She stopped and grabbed a water bottle before continuing. "I just hope I don't draw any attention to myself this afternoon, I don't think I could take much more." He grinned for less then a second, and then his face returned to normal. He almost knew what she was about to tell Evelyn, he wasn’t completely sure though. He just wondered how Evelyn would take the sudden stop, it wasn’t likely that she would just ignore it. He grabbed a plate of food, trying to blend in. He was behind the person who was behind Evelyn and Bella, so he could easily be noticed by them. Just act normal. HA! Yeah, if only he were normal.
He had no idea why he was there at that second. He wasn’t stalking Bella, no. There was just something there that like, attracted him to her. He never had this feeling before and didn’t understand it. How could a simple human new girl have this effect on him? Maybe it’s because I can’t read her mind, I’m just curious. He nodded quickly, agreeing with himself. He knew he wouldn’t look crazy though, nodding to himself. The movement was so quick only a vampire would be able to see it. He was almost sure he was the only one within a few feet. Almost.

Evelyn couldn’t help but grimace sadly once as she listened at Bella’s answer. Sure, she knew that probably Bella’s morning hadn’t been the greatest that was for sure, but she still did truthfully hoped she simply was wrong about it, that her friend hadn’t had simply such a bad morning as herself, of course it was just an pointless hope. Of course, she still could try to cheer up her friend and tell her that no, she hadn’t probably drawn that much of attention toward her, but if she would even allow herself to say that, she would be lying… something she wasn’t definitely comfortable with it. Well, she could at least cease some of Bella’s concern’s, couldn’t she? That wouldn’t mean to be lying, at least not necessarily.
“I’m so sorry Bella, I swear I would gladly take everything of this instead of you even though that would be horrible, but I suppose with two newcomers their attention would eventually be rather equally repartee for both. “Evelyn started, sighing sadly. “But I’m sure they would leave you alone quickly… It’s just the fact you are new and… Well, eventually they would just forget it and start acting normally. That always happens with me when I move.” She added rather dismissively and breathed deeply briefly. And she did really know how was the feeling of moving taking in consideration the really huge amount of times she had already done that on her life… But there was no point of letting Bella concerned about that.
However, there was something in the way she had spoke so vaguely between that had awoke Evelyn’s curiosity briefly something she was almost completely sure her friend hadn’t noticed it. Really quickly and wit ha perfection many would envy, Evelyn had disguised her curiosity with a neutral expression, pull in order her thoughts and spoke not daring herself to say anything that could recognize Bella’s hesitation and trying to not be over curious about it. It was a very difficult task, though, taking in consideration her natural over curios personality, but still she had managed it even thought she couldn’t still help but wonder about the subject. It’s not your business, Evelyn Mae… If Bella isn’t comfortable with it, then you just need to leave it. If she wants to tell you she will, naturally and eventually. She told herself, hoping this way she could still pull away those thoughts.
And it worked, gladly, thought it surely had helped that as a source of distraction she had heard another student placing himself… or herself, she couldn’t tell since she knew it would be rather noisy and impolite to look back, but she still was rather glad for the small distraction. Bella’s small laugher also helped her, and with no effort Eve felt on small and truthful bright smile lighten her face softly. It was good to know she too liked Eve’s company on the lunch, overwhelming and sweet… Something the blond girl found nice. That was what she got to never, once before, had allowed anyone to get closer to her like it had happened with Bella. A really good and truthful friend, that was what she was more than ever started to see Bella, even thought she knew that having friends did have it’s risks…
You think too much. One little voice told inside her head and Evelyn couldn’t help but feel rather guilty on that subject. It surely was true, sometimes… She really did think too much, but it wasn’t precisely her fault. She had just grown up to be that way and there was anything she could to about it. Those were the circumstances of her existence and there was no point in trying to defy them, it never was.
"Anything good happen to you yet?” Bella’s voice popped out suddenly and she found herself being dragged away from her thoughts. That was another good thing she would have to had on Bella’s strengths: the ability of helping Evelyn to stop thinking. God knew how sometimes she would just start over thinking too much. Yeah, I’m lucky no one can read thoughts… If so my would definitely resemble the one’s of a mental and very insane person. She added for herself lastly and pulled her whole concentration in a good answer for her friend.
“Well… Not really. Unless you consider the fact of having the whole morning been assigned with male partners a good thing… I surely disagree with that though.” Evelyn started, chuckling but added the last part rather seriously. “It gets a little exasperating and annoying having them acting weirdly like if they’re trying to chat you up. But nothing you should concern seriously, I can handle it.” She continued quickly, trying to ignore the light blush she knew was starting now to touché her checks very lightly. “I was hoping your morning was more eventful than mine. Have you met anyone interesting by any chance?” Eve finished, perhaps a little too quickly, hoping that would make the attention of her previous statement vanish quickly.

Bella smiled softly after Evelyn finished, before shaking her head. "It wouldn't be fair for you to have to deal with it all. But I just kind of wish that people here would just accept that I'm really not that interesting. I'm very.. average. And boring." She sighed in frustration, trying to telepathically scream at everyone to back off. But there was no way she would draw attention to herself like that, screaming loudly in the canteen. Suicide.
As she listened quietly to her friends comforting words, Bella looked up at her with a glimmer of hope in her brown eyes. "How soon do you think they'll get bored of me?" She asked, hopeful. Maybe it would be all over by tomorrow. But deep down, she knew there was no way she could be that lucky.
Bella was glad that Evelyn didn't question her pause. She hadn't meant to slip up like that, but was also unsure of what to say. How could she describe the encounter that had occured earlier? Would Evelyn even believe her? Besides, I probably dreamed him up. There's no way someone that perfect could exist. She thought, the glow in her eyes from earlier fading suddenly. She smiled ruefully as her friend continued to speak, listening calmly as they moved along in the queue.
The last part caught her attention though. Now would be the perfect time to say something, she figured. Eve was practically shoving the opportunity in her face. Making a rash decision, and swallowing her nerves, Bella looked up at her friend. She was about to speak, but blushed. She then opened her mouth, "Urm, well. I did meet someone, but it's not important." But Bella knew she would never get away with telling just that, especially when the cruel blush had already betrayed her, so she carried on hesitantly. "I was lost, and he helped me find my way, because we had the same class.. and stuff...." She looked up, biting her lip, "But Evelyn you wouldn't believe how perfect he was. But what does it matter? He won't even remember my name, or who I am anymore. He was just being nice and helping out another student. Nothing's going to happen. You'd understand if you saw him. There's no way someone like that could be meant for me." Her voice got quieter towards the end as the inevitable truth sunk in.
It was true. She could remember how perfect his face was, how there seemed to be not a single fault anywhere, and then she pictured herself. Plain and dull. Not extraordinary in any way. People like that didn't even look at people like her. He would be meant for someone stunning, like Evelyn for example. It was strange how Forks seemed to be home to so many good-looking people.

Since a very little child, Evelyn had learnt that sometimes smiling and lying was the best way to keep other people happy about some subjects, but even thought smiling as one of her really good strengths, the lying part simply wasn’t. If she would have to pick between a rock and herself the best liar, the rock would definitely be the winner, so since very young the blond half-vampire had learnt how to avoid such complicated situations. However, these kind of situations seemed to have a particular and strange way to follow her everywhere, even for the rainy and small town of Forks making her be unsure again between what was correct or what was kind… honesty and hope. Telling Bella that it would probably take weeks until they would stop following her… or cheering her up and give probably really untrue expectations.
“Err…it depends. One week or two, I suppose” Or one month or two… She added for herself trying to restrain her pained look. It was ridiculous, Bella wouldn’t probably buy her vague answer at all but still she really needed to try, right? I couldn’t say a lie even if my life depended of it. Eve muttered inside again, complaining with herself. There were things that simply weren’t meant to change like… never.
Deciding to put away her inner discuss of her lying skills (if they even existed, anyway), Evelyn made one effort to keep moving slowly as the food line would keep moving and take attention as well on her friends words. Between allowing herself to look at grilled liver –Ewww- It wasn’t really that difficult, taking in consideration the particularly charming daily main menu of the cafeteria on that day and her sudden urge to move her thoughts for the food she was supposed to eat in a couple of minutes. So, naturally, it wasn’t really difficult at all to shift her attention toward Bella and keep studying her face silently, especially once she heard her friends next words.
Bella was talking about a boy. Perhaps that wasn’t that strange, coming from another girl, but that coming from Bella was definitely surprising since, surely, Eve hadn’t ever pictured her friend as that kind of girl that would start rambling and daydreaming about any ordinary boy. If she really wanted to be honest with herself, she was 99,9% sure Bella wasn’t that type, yet here she was starting to talk about a supposed perfect boy that had helped her on her way to her daily classes… and instinctively Evelyn couldn’t help but suppress the mild, warm and very soft smile spreading across her lips at the sight of a very nervous and almost ready to blush any second soon Bella. That was starting to sound more like the Bella she had pictured on her mind the day before, but on that moment the blond girl couldn’t focus herself beside the fact that her first friend ever had told her something she knew that was secret, trusting on Evelyn a piece of her soul, and the way it felt was really complex. Good and normal, but complex.
“I’m glad you at least had made a fairly much better acquaintance than me.” Eve couldn’t help but start, cheerfully but then her face became serious. “And how could you say such a thing about you? That is a very silly thing, believe me. You cannot say, never, that one person cannot be meant for you… future and fate are the most unpredictable things on the world and no one can defy them.” She continued softly and paused, sighting. Bella or anyone couldn’t ever know how true she was… And perhaps it simply was good that way. “Perhaps he won’t remember you… or, perhaps, it could happen the opposite, No one can tell. I just assure you that and if he is the one to never remember about you… honestly, it’s is him who looses! “She added lastly, smiling softly once again.
Pausing, Evelyn pondered how ridiculous she must have appeared to anyone outside and took a look at herself. Raised up and with her blond hair falling on her shoulders, she strangely resembled one weird combination of chicken politician mixed with her grandmother while she was lecturing her… and Evelyn couldn’t help but chuckle lightly at herself and regretted almost immediately her lack of attention as she felt her body loosing quickly balance and she ended shocking lightly against the boy behind her making Eve turn around almost instinctively and face him to apologize quickly… but her words were lost in the middle of somewhere once she landed her light blue eyes in a very attractive boy, leaving her briefly on a dazzle state of mind. He was stunning… possibly; even more stunning than herself and that was say something. Not that she did min that, not at all, but definitely finding someone so naturally beautiful and more than her was…well, that hadn’t ever happen. I start to see the point about what grand had said about fit in here… She mumbled for herself still dazzled… until for her own good she forced herself to focus herself and settle again the apologizing words.
“Err…. I’m sorry. It was an accident. “Evelyn managed to say quickly and truthfully, proud with herself that she had managed to get away from her strange dazzle in just seconds, and smiled briefly before turning again toward her friend and continue on their chat though with the boy still on that back of her head. Nice, but definitely not my type. She concluded for herself and couldn’t help but find it strangely true. But, again, it was really difficult she would ever find her ideal anyway… It would take more than one lifetime… “Sorry Bella… Where were we?” She apologized grimacing softly. They were talking about a supposed perfect boy , that was it! “Like I said, if this guy or any other ever tells you are uninteresting, that simply means you deserve much better.” Eve added lastly, taking a closer look to see her friend’s reaction at her words. Little did she know the boy behind her was the boy her friend had just started to talk about…

Edward sighed. So Bella hadn’t had a good day? Well who could blame her? He hadn’t had many good days when he first came here. It was almost for the same reason why she got so much attention. It was because they were mysterious and quiet. Bella was most likely the shyest person he had ever met. It was mainly because she didn’t see how interesting and how beautiful she really was. It was a plain, girl nest door beautiful. She was still beautiful though. The fact that she didn’t realize it, and that she didn’t flaunt it made her personality stand out. Not her looks.
She would have many bad days though. The attention wouldn’t simply go away in a couple of weeks. It would fade, eventually. He felt sorry for her, but he was a little bit thankful he didn’t still have to go threw it. Even though he would now and then read some startling thoughts from the girls around him.
He could hear the hope in Bella’s voice when she asked, "How soon do you think they'll get bored of me?" He smiled to himself and grabbed a random food item to put on his tray. She really didn’t like the attention. Obviously she’s been ignored before, or was ignored at her other school. Ha! Good luck with that here. He’s heard so many thoughts about her it would probably be a good two to three months before they’d even leave her alone. Poor Bella. Possibly it would help her though. Maybe she’d feel a little more self confident, or she might get a boyfriend. Edwards chest tightened when he thought of her getting a boyfriend. He shook it off though. He had no idea why he just had that reaction. He shook it off mentally too.
His senses got sharper when she began to speak. He listened intently. "Urm, well. I did meet someone, but it's not important." She paused for only a second before continuing. "I was lost, and he helped me find my way, because we had the same class.. and stuff.... But Evelyn you wouldn't believe how perfect he was. But what does it matter? He won't even remember my name, or who I am anymore. He was just being nice and helping out another student. Nothing's going to happen. You'd understand if you saw him. There's no way someone like that could be meant for me." At the end she got quieter, as if she realized something that she didn’t like. But how could she think he wouldn’t remember her? He didn’t help her to be nice; he helped her because something drew him to her. He could hardly breathe around her, and most of the time he tried not to. He would find it impossible to forget her. The second he met her he knew there was something about her that was completely different to anybody else.
He wore a confused expression. He was still pondering what Bella said, but secretly he was happy that she remembered him herself and that he dazzled her that way. It was surprising when he felt the girl Evelyn fall square against his chest. Is if in an instant he set he tray down and caught her. He looked down and was stunned. She was as close to dazzling as a vampire, but he saw the blush on her cheeks. How could that be? She was as dazzling as a vampire, but he could sense her heartbeat. He almost dropped her, but he helped her back up instead. “Err…. I’m sorry. It was an accident. “ She said, in a dazzling voice. She then turned back to Bella “Sorry Bella… Where were we? Like I said, if this guy or any other ever tells you are uninteresting, that simply means you deserve much better.” He smiled. He looked at Bella and Then Evelyn. He was in clear sight now. “Sorry, I could help but overhear. Nice to meet you again Bella.” He looked at Evelyn and smiled a crooked smile, layered with humor. “Hi I’m Edward Cullen, the guy that doesn’t deserve Bella.”

Bella barely registered what her friend had been saying, as she noticed the person Evelyn had accidentaly bumped into. She wasn't sure whether to be ecstatic, depressed or confused. So it was clear now that she hadn't made him up, unless she was suffering from some kind of recurring delusion, which was unlikely, even for her. So he was real? But it didn't mean that he remembered her, or even had an idea of who she was. Why is he so perfect? She asked herself, more than a little bit disappointed. Her memory hadn't exagerated anything, if anything, it hadn't done him justice. Why couldn't he just be less perfect than everyone else here, and why did she have to feel so insignificant around him.
But when he spoke, first to her, she felt a deep blush rise up to her cheeks and her heart skip a beat. It was starting to do that quite often around him. It couldn't possibly be healthy. But none of that mattered to Bella at the moment. He remembered her. That was all that she registered, as she just stared at him. His next words only deepened her blush, and she muttered "Hi..", realizing she had been staring for quite a while. She fumbled around with the food, anything to avoid staring at him any longer. There was no way he could think she was mentally stable. And soon even Evelyn would notice it. Brilliant. She thought, annoyed. Why couldn't she just treat him the same as everyone else?
She shook her head softly, thinking that neither of the two would see. Him? Not good enough for her? Crazy. And it was the other way around anyway. He could have absolutely anyone in the world, while she.. ye. Once her cheeks returned to their usual pale color, she looked back up slowly, wondering what Evelyn and Edward were doing. It suddenly dawned on her how ridiculous she probably looked to everyone else. Standing awkwardly next to two impossibly gorgeous people, doing nothing. She quickly moved on in the queue, eager to avoid causing a traffic jam and getting even more attention. This just wasn't her day.
Back home in Phoenix, she had imagined Forks to be dull, gray and full of average people. She'd only been right about the dull and gray. Nobody here looked average to her, from the people she had met anyway. Sure, there were the people in the hallways, the classes, but otherwise. People like Evelyn, and Edward. They were far from average. Humans weren't allowed to be that attractive, it wasn't fair. Of course, Bella didn't want to look like either of them, not because they weren't stunning because they were, but because the amount of attention people like that were given was insane. And she couldn't deal with that.
